In conversations with other Edgewater residents I have heard a spectrum of opinions on how Edgewater should manage future development. Some residents are concerned that increased density will also increase issues traffic and noise or detract from Edgewater's small town feel. Other residents desire more density because they believe it could create a more inclusive and sustainable city, and bring more small businesses thereby adding to Edgewater's safety and walkability. I believe Edgewater should seek a balance of preserving the neighborhood feel by carefully considering the impacts, positive and negative, of up-zoning Keeping an open dialogue will allow us to make wise decisions.
My dedication to enhancing transportation options in our city is driven by the understanding that our community is diverse in needs and abilities, necessitating a variety of mobility solutions. For instance, some individuals cannot drive and rely on options like scooters. Personally, I prioritize cycling as a mode of transportation rather than a sport. I believe in the importance of creating a balanced transportation ecosystem, recognizing that cars, while a common choice, come with drawbacks such as noise, environmental impact, and safety concerns. Addressing these concerns will involve considering the broader transportation landscape, including parking policies and road design, to ensure a more inclusive and sustainable city for all residents.
